Wow, its been a while since I wrote something here. Lets see… Since my last post I have won 3rd place in the Pete Conrad spirit of innovation award and went to Atlanta for the FIRST robotics championships.

The Conrad award was given out at the Conrad foundation’s innovation submit a few weeks ago. The submit took place at the NASA aims research center in mouton view, California. It was fun and I learnt a lot , the best part of the trip was when I won the award.

Atlanta for robotics was awesome! It was cool to be in the same place as hundreds of thousands of high school students who have similar interests to me. Additionally once we had fixed up all of the damage done to our robot in the LA regional we won every one of our matches. Making our win-losses at championships 5-2-0. Our final ranking was 23rd on the winning field, it was our best season yet!

Currently I am on a trip for my integrated American studies class at Milken. More to come about that soon…

Today a random teacher talked about Obama’s address yesterday. He said that it was the first time that he heard a president talk about education in the past 8 years. That is not true, one of Bush’s major issues was education, to say something like that shows complete ignorance. Also at one point a kid started talking about Obama’s recent dealings with Gaza. The teacher’s reaction was very odd he passionately argued that Obama would never give anything to Hamas and refused to believe what Obama is currently doing even when showed news stories about in the New York Times.

My teacher’s reaction is kind of scary, if he represents the average American then his lack on knowledge of what is happening and his blind faith in Obama makes me really scared for the future.

Additionally it is completely inappropriate for a non-humanities teacher to talk about politics in class.

Last night I got back from the AIPAC high school summit. I went with 7 other kids from Milken, 7 out of the 8 (me included) went on TIF.

Over all it was a fun experience, I liked spending time with people that I have not spent time with since Israel and I also really enjoyed the free Hadag Nachash that AIPAC arranged for us.

Besides spending time with TIF people and Hadag Nachash, most of the time was spent learning about AIPAC and “lobbying” for Israel. Learning about AIPAC was fun and important, but the whole “lobbying” thing was a waste of time. We went to see one of congressman Waxman’s staff, it was kind of point less since she knew much more about AIPAC and US Israel realtions than most of the people “teaching” us about this stuff at the conference.
