Very often I get people asking me what Linux distribution I use. I used to be a big fan of Linux Mint, but in the past year I have moved to Ubuntu. This is why I no longer use Linux Mint.

Today Zune realised the new Zune 4.0 software. Here are my initial impressions…. (this is by no means a full review) I like: The new Zune mini player (Zune 1.0 had one and it was one of the best things about the program, but for some reason they got rid of it in Zune 2.o, [...]

As part of my summer internship I was given a G1 phone for the summer. Also, I recently was invited to the google voice beta. Naturally I wanted to use google voice on my G1 and thankfully google recently released a G1 app for voice. This guide will walk you through the setup process for [...]

It looks like in a effort to boost their dwindling console sales, sony has decided to attempt to appeal to the anti-semitic market by banning words like “Jew” from their “home” service. Read the washingtonpost for more info.

Every fiscal year Wikimedia (the organization behind Wikipedia) produces an annual report that talks about what it has accomplished and how it spent money. This year’s report can be viewed here. Like most reports of this type, wikimedia’s report has nice graphics and is visually appealing. However, unlike most reports of this type, wikimedia uses the [...]

A fun past time of mine at the mall is to go into the Apple store, go to a few computers, open the web browsers and open myorangepc.com. Then I’ll stand outside the store with the people that I am with and watch the shopper’s reactions. It can be really funny. So anyways, last night [...]

I really hate it when developers change something when the old system worked just as well if not better than the new one. Mozilla did it when they got rid of the lock icon if FireFox and it looks like google just did when they moved the tabs in iGoogle. The old iGoogle had tabs [...]

The death of the IPOD

Written by Nathan Schloss. 1 comment Posted in: Apple, Computers, Funny, Internet, Mac, Software

According to apple co-founder Steve Wozniak the ipod is destined to die out, just like the Walkman before it.  Steve Wozniak founded Apple with his kid friend Steve Jobs. Wozniak seems to be a human being unlike Jobs who often seems to act more like a donkey (see here). According to Fox News , Wozniak [...]

Apple has long been known for its amazing business practices (It was hard to type that without laughing). However in a bazaar turn of events today it seems like Apple is stealing a business practice that has long been one of Microsoft’s flagship practices. Even since the Zune 30gb was released Microsoft has always given away [...]

I just finished installing google chrome. It is very good looking and seems to render pages correctly. However there are a few minor annoyances that I have encountered so far. The first is that google was not kidding when it said that this is a minimalist browser, there are not many menus and there is [...]

A few days ago I had a problem with gmail SMTP. Well as visitor Thad points out, it may have not been a problem with my computer after all, it seems like google forgot to renew their SSL certificate, which caused problems for people who were trying to send emails via google’s secure SMTP port.

If you have an Iphone or Ipod touch beware, your device checks in with Apple servers without you knowing and checks if Apple is OK with your app usage. See Engadget for more info.

If you are ever on the Internet and come across a piece of software called “Vista OSX V3″, ”Vista OSX Transformation Pack”, or something like that then don’t, I repeat DO NOT install it. According to Microsoft (via windows defender) it comes with a Trojan virus. Also, it is not possible to remove it and it does [...]

Apple iCons

Written by Nathan Schloss. No comments Posted in: Mac, Software, Stuff

All right, so I know that normally this blog is anti-mac, but I am posting this for a misguided friend of mine. What is this you ask, well it’s a zipped folder that has two different things in it. The first thing that it has is icons that you can use to replace the old [...]

While IE8 has some really neat features, I had a few problems with the beta. My main problem was how it rendered pages. Many pages that worked correctly on IE7 have extra spaces between lines and have messed up tables. Also my other problem was that when ever I tired to open a page from [...]
